BOSTON -- Boston Celtics All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas is back in the starting lineup for Fridays tilt with the Charlotte Hornets after missing four games due to a groin strain. While the Celtics get Thomas back, the Hornets will be without their star guard, as Kemba Walker has been excused to attend to a personal matter. Charlotte coach Steve Clifford said Walker will rejoin the team for Saturdays game against the Atlanta Hawks. The Celtics went 1-3 in Thomas absence, and his late-game scoring was notably missing as Boston fell to quality opponents in the Raptors, Thunder and Spurs.[Thomas] went through [shootaround] and felt pretty good, said Celtics coach Brad Stevens. They told me nothing more today, and nothing about minutes restrictions. The Celtics have dipped to 13-12 overall and slid a bit in a crowded Eastern Conference. Stevens refused to use injuries as an excuse for Bostons inconsistent play.We had a lot of tough challenges, especially at the start of the season, ahead of us, said Stevens. There are things you cant predict going into a new year with regard to availability, but I said at the beginning of the year, were as close to second or third as we are to 10th. We still are.The Hornets (14-12) are one of the team ahead of Boston in the East.Whether [Walker] plays or not, hes obviously had a great year and hes a great individual player, said Stevens. This is a tough team -- really well coached, disciplined, they dont turn the ball over, and Steve Clifford does a terrific job. Regardless of if Kemba is playing or not, we have our hands full. Sebastian Vettel has written letters to motorsports governing body, the FIA, to apologise for his sweary tirade at the end of the Mexican Grand Prix.Vettel lashed out at FIA race director Charlie Whiting in the final laps, twice telling him to f--- off after Max Verstappen refused cede third position after going off track to defend. Verstappen was eventually handed a post-penalty and Vettel went to personally apologise to Whiting after the podium ceremony -- though he would lose third himself after incurring a separate post-race penalty for an incident with Daniel Ricciardo. The FIA is looking into Vettels outburst and whether he did anything to warrant a punishment. According to the BBC Vettel wrote letters both to FIA president Jean Todt and Whiting on Monday in an attempt to bring the matter to a close without major disciplinary action.?The FIAs investigation could lead to a reprimand, a fine or even a race ban. Speaking after the race, Red Bull boss Christian Horner said he expected Vettel would receive a reprimand. Two of the rules Vettel may have falleen foul of are in the FIAs International Sporting Code:12.dddddddddddd1.1.c Any fraudulent conduct or any act prejudicial to the interests of any Competition or to the interests of motor sport generally.12.1.1.f Any words, deeds or writings that have caused moral injury or loss to the FIA, its bodies, its members or its executive officers. The incident has been met with a mixed response from F1 fans. While some argue the comments were made in the heat of the moment, Vettels anger must be seen as extreme when the 21 other race drivers on the grid have never rebuked a highly respected FIA official so publicly.Several drivers have commented that Vettels frustrations have boiled over to extreme levels this year, with the German often swearing throughout races at backmarkers not moving over immediately for blue flags. Verstappen, the subject of his anger, suggested the four-time world champion go back to school for language classes. ' ' '
